Activities in African Region

The Great Lakes and Horn Regions of Africa have suffered a number of prolonged and violent conflicts over recent years. Both internal instability within nations, and conflict across national borders continue to rob people of their livelihoods, loved ones, and their own lives.

145_25.pngIn response to this pressing issue, JCCP has recently opened a new office in this region to work towards our overarching goal of building peace and helping people to secure their livelihoods.

JCCP began its operations in Africa in Autumn 2008, with a new project entitled “Conflict Prevention and Peace Building Network for the Great Lakes Region (GLR) and the Horn of Africa (HoA)”. The project is being implemented in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Regional Programme of Education for Emergencies and Reconstruction (PEER), also based in Nairobi.
